Texas 4-H Opportunity Scholarship!!!!! Training deadline!

MONDAY, DECEMBER 12

Dr. Toby Lepley will be offering a 4-H Opportunity Scholarship Training via Central from 7-9 p.m. You can come to the Extension office and attend the training LIVE.  We will be meeting in the meeting room to attend the training.  


ANY graduating senior intending to apply for the Texas 4-H Opportunity Scholarship needs to attend this training.  Last year we brought $16,000 back to Karnes County!


Please let Meredith know if you intend on participating.

What should graduating seniors be doing NOW?  They should be taking the SAT and/or ACT as many times as possible to get their scores up!  Additionally, they should be working hard to stay on top of their grades so their GPA is at an acceptable level.

Food Challenge Practice

The next Food Challenge practice will be November 16th at the Kenedy Fire Station.  All youth participating MUST attend to be eligible for District competition December 3rd.

Area Go Texan BBQ Pork Plate

The Annual Go Texan Scholarship Fundraiser Benefit BBQ pork plate sale will take place December 11, 2011.  Area Go Texan contributes $16,000 to scholarships to the youth of Karnes County.  The Karnes County Area Go Texan contributes scholarship funds to local youth who promote the agriculture industry.

Plates are $7.  This includes pork, potatoes, green beans, & corn.

Pick up locations are as follows:  Falls City, Falls City Hall, 10:30am – 12:30pm; Cestohowa, NBV Church, 11:00 am; Runge, Connie S. Smart CPA offices, 11:30am;  Panna Maria, Panna Maria Post office/hall, 12:00 noon; Kenedy, Kenedy City Hall, 12:00 noon;  Karnes City, Karnes City National Bank, 11:30 am.
